Professed members of the Oratory of the Good Shepherd are men, both lay and ordained, who have discerned and tested a call to live within the Oratory's Rule, Notes, and fellowship. The basic rule of life expects a dedication to consecrated celibacy as well as a commitment to the Daily Office, an additional hour of personal prayer, frequent Communion (daily where practicable), regular confession, and financial discipline and accountability. The Notes are found here. The fellowship is found primarily within the local college and broader province, with expected chapter meetings and retreats. The worldwide Oratory also gathers in General Chapter at least triennially. Those who are interested in exploring a vocation should write to the vocational contact of their respective province.
Men and women, lay and ordained, married and single who are interested in following the Companions' Rule should write to the Companions' Secretary of their respective province.
The Oratory of the Good Shepherd is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. The Oratory regularly revises its Safeguarding Policy and works in collaboration with the relevant Anglican Province to ensure best practice. The safeguarding policy of each Oratory college (whether in Europe, Australia, North America, or South Africa) thus conforms to the Church in which it is located.
